ON THE ROAD TO OAMARU

Bye bye Queenstown.

Dawn at Lake Dunstan.

Parked up at the Clay Cliffs, Twizel is to the left of picture.

Clay Cliffs, Omarama

The entrance through the chasm.

In the chasm.

Through the chasm

A touch of sun at the top.

Wall texture

Close up of wall texture.

Dwarfed by it all.

Frozen ford as we leave the Clay Cliffs

Overnight stop looking up from the shores of Lake Pukaki. It was like being on a boat here as the "Truck" rocked all night due to big winds.

Lunch stop just east of Fairlie. The beer bottle made a handy prop?

We stayed the last night on the road at Timaru at the local RSA (by the tree) which is a designated POP stop for NZMCA members before moving on to our final destination of Oamaru.

Clay cliffs chasm = Lord of the Rings Paths of the Dead! Were you spooked?

Yeah it was very much like that but not spooked, we're tough.

Campervan Stan is a Southern Man now and they don't spook easily.

The movie-ones are in the North Island, but those photos are incredibly similar. We all took one look and started muttering 'It was made by those who are dead, and the dead keep it: the way is shut.'
